Grant Applications are accepted by the
Blair Area Community Foundation once a year. The deadline for applications
is October 1. All submissions are reviewed and final notification is given to applicants by December 1. The amount of grant money available each year is
determined by the contributions that the Foundation received from the community
during the previous year.

GRANTS - $25,000 Total
$4,000 to Black-Elk Neihardt
Park for a 900' sidewalk around the Tower of the Four Winds and two benches.
$3,000 to Kennard Rescue Squad for an auto external defibulator.
$2,600 to Dana College to cover production costs for the theatrical production
of John Neihardt's book "Black Elk Speaks" during the summer of 2009.
$2,500 to the Crisis Center for an emergency confidential shelter in Washington
County to provide temporary shelter to victims of domestic abuse or sexual
assault.
$2,500 to the Blair Little League for a sidewalk project to provide handicap
accessibility and a walking path from Wederquist Field to Eagle Field and to
Hardy Field.
$2,000 to the Blair Public Library Foundation for the development of an
educational resource collection consisting of 200 resources.
$1,800 to the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging to purchase items for the Blair
Over 60 Center and the Arlington Multi-Purpose Senior Center.
$1,800 to Herman Elementary School for an interactive whiteboard system.
$1,500 to Camp Fontanelle for eight pads for RV parking.
$1,500 to the City of Fort Calhoun for three locations for resting along the
trail in Pioneer Park.
$1,300 to the Blair High School for costumes for the Twelfth Night production.

grades K-2.
$1,500 to Blair Youth Softball to assist in the payment for a sprinkler system
on Field D.
$1,100 to the Blair Public Library for folding tables and a multi-purpose
podium.
$1,000 to the Fort Atkinson Foundation for a replica of an early eighteen
hundreds military cart.
$1,000 to the Blair Police Department to purchase a costume for the McGruff
House program for children in dangerous/frightening situations.
$1,000 to the Friends of the Jeanette Hunt Animal Shelter for sterilization,
immunization of animals and a mailing drive.
$1,000 to the Salvation Army to provide for local and transient needs in the
form of rent , utility assistance, and gasoline in Washington County.
$1,000 to TeamMates for a digital camera and software, as well as payment for a
second bus to the Creighton basketball game for kids.

to the Blair Rescue Squad for the purchase of one Explore Tablet PC for
paperless recording by the two Blair Rescue Squads.
$1,500 to TeamMates of Blair for the purchase of a laptop computer and projector
to enhance the training of mentors and to enhance presentations about TeamMates
at area events and meetings.
$1,250 to Crowell Memorial Home for the purchase of a new refrigerator for
providing Home Delivered Meals to the elderly in Blair.
$1,250 to Dana College for development of a new planned giving model (The
D.A.N.A. Plan) to provide Blair area residents with a simplified approach for
remembering their favorite charitable organizations.
Dana will promote BACF as one of the organizations for planned gifts.
$1,200 to the Washington County Sheriff's Department to purchase 3,559 Child
Identification Kits which will include personal information, fingerprints, a
dental chart, a photograph and potential DNA samples.
$800 to
the Washington County Historical Association for the purchase of a Sony
camcorder and a compatible DVD player for taking oral histories of
Washington
County
and recorded video of the interior of the historic Frahm House and recorded
video to educate about the Fontanelle Town Hall, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
$500 to
the Salvation Army to provide for local and transient welfare needs in the form
of rent for eviction notices, utility assistance for shutoffs, gas for medical
transportation, medicines, groceries, and lodging depending on the need.
2004
GRANTS - $10,000 Total
In 2004 grants of $400 to $2,000 were given to nine different
Washington County organizations, for a total amount of $10,000.
These grants provided assistance for projects in the areas of public facility
development and improvements, and assistance to a variety of groups in the
preparation and execution of the First Tribal Council National Signature
event held in 2004. These grants served the communities
of Blair, Fort Calhoun, and Washington County as a whole.
2002
GRANTS - $10,000 Total
In 2002 grants of $500 to $2,000 were given to nine different Washington
County organizations, for a total amount of $10,000. These grants
provided assistance for projects in the areas of youth and adult
recreation and sports, educational programs, public facility improvements, and
park and cemetery enhancements. These grants served the communities of
Blair, Fort Calhoun, Kennard, and Washington County as a whole.
2001
GRANTS - $10,000 Total
In 2001 grants of $500 to $1,000 were given to fourteen different
Washington County organizations, for a total amount of $10,000.
These grants provided assistance for projects in the areas of youth and
adult recreation and sports, educational programs and equipment, public
facility improvements, park and cemetery enhancements, and public safety
and handicap accessibility equipment. These grants served the communities
of Blair, Fort Calhoun, Herman, Kennard, and Washington County as a whole.
The Blair Area Community Foundation exists

their charitable goals and contribute to the vitality of the area.
