Our non-profit corporation helped establish the Black Elk-Neihardt Park, then
raised private funds to build the 44-foot tall Tower of the Four Winds. Interpretive programs are given on request.
Our Mission Is … to promote the ideas embodied in the Tower of the Four
Winds, which depicts the ideas of universal love for all peoples as told to John
G. Neihardt by Black Elk, Oglala Sioux, and interpreted by the late Wm. F.
"Bill" Thomsen, Blair artist and professor of art emeritus at Dana

The Blair Community Schools Foundation’s purpose is to provide resources to
supplement the educational programs for Blair Community Schools. Enrichment
opportunities for staff and students as well as facility enhancement are
provided through tax-deductible contributions from individuals, groups, and

The Blair Fine Arts Boosters is a volunteer
group comprised of any person interested in supporting the Fine Arts at Blair High School. The objective is to provide time, energy and talents to support and
assist with the activities of the Blair High School's drama, forensics, instrumental music, visual art and vocal music students in
cooperation with their directors. In addition, they offer financial
support to the fine arts programs, as well as chaperoning, coordinating and
communicating fine arts activities in the community.

instrumental music, visual arts, and vocal music. We believe that by

The Blair Soccer Association’s purpose is to provide coaches and a safe
place for area youth to learn the game of soccer. The BSA has had at least a ten
percent increase each year for the past four years and now serves over five
hundred soccer players in Blair.
Our Mission Is … to educate youth in the fundamentals of athletic
competition in the game of soccer; to uphold the highest standards of the game;
to protect the interests of its members; and, above all, to provide an athletic
program for youth, teaching good sportsmanship and a healthy competitive
attitude.

maintain a

The purpose of the Blair Animal
Shelter is to enforce the city and
state statutes and provide report information regarding animal control. This is
accomplished by engaging in community service support including pet adoption,
education, wildlife, animal shelter maintenance, and disposal of deceased
animals.
Our Mission Is … to serve the citizens of Blair and provide a safe
environment; to ensure the humane treatment of animals; reduce the number of
injured and euthanized animals; increase pet adoption; provide a safe and
sanitary animal shelter; and to work with the Blair community to educate the
public about responsible pet ownership.

The Veterans Tribute Plaza is a collaborative effort of the
Veterans Tribute Committee, the City of Blair, and the Blair Area Community
Foundation to create a memorial to honor the service of Washington County
veterans. The stunning stars and bars design was created by Dana College
professor and artist Dr. Milt Heinrich. DLR group provided the landscape
and engineering services and the Steier Group is conducting the capital
campaign. Truly a collaborative effort of the whole community to create a
lasting tribute to those who served our country, both in times of war and in

Fort Atkinson has been selected as one of the focal points for the
celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Lewis and Clark
expedition. Thousands of people will be visiting Fort Atkinson and Fort Calhoun.
The Fort Calhoun Enhancement Committee is a volunteer group created to enhance
and beautify the city of Fort Calhoun in preparation for this celebration and to

The Crisis Center provides services to victims/survivors of domestic violence
and sexual assault. We provide emergency shelter, 24 hour crisis intervention,
support groups for adults and children, financial assistance, criminal justice
support, and public education as a means of prevention.
