CONNECTION DRIVERS NEEDED
Two and one-half years ago Crossroads Connection had about 15 people worshiping. Currently, about 40 ex-offenders are picked up at the Work Release Center. Worship attendance is now about 85 to 90 people (ex-offenders, family, friends, and transportation sponsors make up the congregation). Due to this phenomenal growth of the Spirit at work, Crossroads is seeking more people to provide transportation. You may provide transportation one Sunday evening a month, or four Sundays a month, or once every six weeks -- whatever suits your schedule. If God is calling you to serve some of the least of Christ's brothers and sisters in need by being a Crossroads Connection transportation sponsor, please call Becky Killion, Pastor of the Underwood Hills Church, at 397-4318 for more information. Thank you! SUNDAY

PROJECT S.O.S.The Deacons have developed a new program called Project S.O.S., which stands for Serving Others Sustenance. The goal is to provide home-cooked meals on a short-term basis to those who may need a helping hand. Four menu plans have been developed, and volunteers have signed up to provide a portion of one (or more!) of these. When called by a Deacon, volunteers will prepare items and drop them off at church at an appointed time to be delivered by the team’s driver. You may notify the church office (468-5683) if you know of a need for a Project S.O.S. meal. YMCA CORPORATE DISCOUNTThank you to Sarah Davis, Blair YMCA Membership Director, for acknowledging 6 or more of our church families to qualify for corporate membership discounts! Monthly drafts were discounted beginning January 1, 2007 and annual renewals will be reduced on their next anniversary date. The savings is approximately $30 per year. For seven known families that's a total of $210 liberated annually for the stewardship of bringing people to Christ! "Let nothing be wasted," said Jesus in John 6:12. RECYCLING effort in fort Calhoun NEEDS VOLUNTEERSThe recycling effort in Fort Calhoun is in need of volunteers to help carry items from the cars to a truck, which then goes on to the Blair Recycling Center. Fort Calhoun recycling happens on the third Saturday of every month. One volunteer is needed each time. Judi Siever will be there each time to handle the heavy stuff. Several volunteers can trade off if they'd like. If you can help or have questions call Judi Siever at 468-5700 or Donna Houghton at 453-4482. HABITAT FOR HUMANITYThe Session would like to invite you to advance the mission outreach to our county this summer in the following ways: * Be a part of the work team to build the first home in Washington County * Support the building of this home by a donation. Our goal is to raise $500. * Pray for this project: They are currently looking for a site and a family to partner with. * Donate equipment and supplies. Danny White has graciously agreed to donate all the flooring supplies that this house will need through our church's efforts. If you would like to help a family be able to own their own home please contact the church. PROJECT LINUSProject Linus is a non-profit organization that collects homemade fleece blankets, quilts, and afghans. The blankets are then distributed to seriously ill children in hospitals. They accept blankets of all sizes, as they distribute them to premature babies through teenagers. The only conditions are that the blankets be new, handmade, and washable. For more information, please contact the local chapter coordinator: Ginny DeBates at 212-3975, or look at their web site at www.projectlinus.org. |
