Park board met at West Market Park to discuss potential Eagle Scout
project. Board met with Shawn Lewis and Brian Carter.
Board Meeting called to order at 7:28 p.m. by president Teeter.
President Teeter announced compliance with the open meetings law.
All board members were present.
Motion and second to approve the March meeting minutes. Motion passed.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
Concession Stand.
Councilman Smith reported the hot water heater needs replaced. He also
reported the electrical service needs updated. He will obtain an estimate
for the electrical service.
Council Smith discussed a walkthrough with Bruce Sill. Reason for the
asphalt breaking up on the path into the ball fields is a water leak.
Several of the maintenance items listed were already in the plans to
complete. Reported there was nothing wrong with the roof of the concession
stand. Board members recommended checking the south side. There are
several broken shingles and roof appears worn.
Councilman Smith is going to talk with Steve Becker concerning the concrete
culverts. They are to be removed within 30 days. Liability issues
with the current situation warrants their removal and storage
elsewhere.
Ball field Key deposit form will be forwarded to the City with the
minutes.
NEW BUSINESS.
Eagle Scout project at West Market Square Park.
Project will replace the retaining wall at the playground equipment.
City to provide the materials and the Eagle Scout candidate to plan and organize
the completion of the project.
Motion and second to recommend the council approve the project and
funding. Motion carried.
Discussion on a sidewalk to a picnic table next to the playground was tabled
as a potential Eagle Scout project for a different scout.
Discussed the pine trees on the south side of the ball fields.
Possibility some of the trees are infected with a bug that has been
devastating the pine trees in the state. Board recommends Lanoha Nursery
be contacted and have the trees inspected.
Concession stand renovations.
Youth Sports Association would like to replace the cabinets and shelves in
the concession stand. Cabinets and shelves are being provided by the
Sports Association. Motion and second to approve the project. Motion
carried. Sports association will also be replacing the
refrigerator.
Parks/Ball fields assignments.
With the addition of two new board members, the members are assigned the
following park/ball field.
Laura Shaner: Pioneer Park
Kelli Shaner: Southern Heights and walking trail.
Jenni Premer: West Market Square.
Mitch Robinson: Ball Fields.
