We have received membership applications from two prospective members.  Geoffrey Hall, a local attorney, and Vicki Olsen, a financial advisor with Investment One.  If anyone has reason to believe that either of these two should not be granted membership please contact a club officer.

Club members are asked to keep the date of Saturday, November 22nd available for help at the Washington County Recycling Center.  A sign up sheet will be available at next week's meeting.

Club members are reminded they can do make-ups on the web at  http://www.rotaryeclubone.org.

Notes from the October 13th  Meeting - Program Chair - Eric Sternberg

Eric's guest for the day was Andrea Fredrickson, Vice President of Operations for American Institute of Management.  AIM is a family owned and operated firm established in 1989 to serve businesses and individuals by providing direction for business and options for planning strategically.  As a national corporation based in Council Bluffs, it serves a broad spectrum of diversified organizations.

AIM offers customized, goal-driven training and development programs that produce results for large and small businesses.  The goal of AIM is to enhance the performance of employees for their clients.  AIM seeks to accomplish this through a process of change that centers on transformation, not information. AIM works with a business to assess, develop, reward, recognize, motivate and retain it's employees.  The idea is to not be prescriptive but rather work as coaches with a business to discover the talents and abilities of employees. Additional information regarding AIM can be found at the following website: www.americaninst.com. (Information for this article came from the AIM website).

Following the presentation by Ms. Fredrickson, club members shared information on their businesses and families (without any fines!):
Dan Veskrna -  his new house is now framed and things are moving along.
Dave Ward - preparations for Dave's spring wedding continue, Mike Mahlendorf has returned to work, part-time (Mike has been receiving cancer treatments).
Eric Sternberg - business has been booming with mortgage refinancing, things are slowing down
LuAnne Lathrop - finally moved into new building and the street is now in
Mick Mines - preliminary reports from the state indicate that revenue is down and the state's budget will once again be a top issue, projections show we could be done by as much as $200 million
Kirk Hutton - after three years of a declining market he is happy to see things going in the upward direction, the Country Bible Church is doing a study using the book "Purpose Driven Life" which Kirk has found to be excellent
