Notes from January 2nd Meeting
Family members of Blair Rotarians gathered for food and fellowship. 21 Rotarians were present with many spouses and children in attendance as well. It was good to renew acquaintances and to meet family members of fellow Rotarians. A special thank you to President Lana for organizing this family event.
Rotary Question of the Week
When were women granted membership into Rotary?
Rotary Fact of the Week (from the RI or
District Website)
Reflecting society in 1905, the organization had been limited to male
members and remained so officially until 1989, when the Council on Legislation,
Rotary's parliament, voted to eliminate the male-only provision, opening up
membership to qualified women across the world (though the U.S. women Rotarians
began to appear during the 1986-1987 Rotary year). Today, there are
approximately 145,000 women Rotarians worldwide,
many of them serving in leadership roles.
Thought of the Week
"When
you make a mistake, don't look back at it long. Take the reason of the thing
into your mind and then look forward. Mistakes are lessons of wisdom. The past
cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power." Hugh
