Notes from December 4th - Program Chair - Ed Jipp

Ed's program guests were Nathan Krämer and Marty Rump who talked about the Blair Historic Preservation Alliance and the 2008 Calendar the group is selling. The alliance has been producing the calendar for four years having taken over the production from the Blair Kiwanis Club. The Blair Historic Preservation Alliance is an advocate for the protection and appreciation of the city’s historic assets. The Alliance seeks to promote public support for the preservation of the city’s historic assets by providing networking and informational assistance to owners of historic properties and local heritage preservation programs.

The 2008 Historical Picture Calendar includes thirteen pages of old photographs: Lincoln Street Fire House, 1883 Railroad Bridge, Farnberg Hardware, Farmer's Co-Operative Union Grain Elevator, Rin-Tin-Tin Showing at the Home Theater, Downtown Washington Street, Perry Selden House, Central School, Dana Homecoming Parade, 1910 Brick Depot, Methodist Church, and the Merchants Hotel.

The cost of the calendar is $6.00 and can be ordered on line by going to the following website: www.blairhistory.com or by contacting a BHPA member.

Rotary Question of the Week

L.A. is the second-largest city in the United States and teems with activity and culture, from its star-studded motion picture industry to its picturesque beachfront communities and resorts.
