Congratulations to Shirley Jipp for the publication of her book,
Sand Beneath My Shoes. For many of us, it brings back fond
memories of our childhoods. I didn't live in the Sandhills but my
childhood experiences parallel hers in many ways. She paints word
pictures of life on the farm in the 30's and 40's that many of us
from what has become known as "the greatest generation"
can truly relate.
Whether you can stroll down memory lane
with her; or if you can learn more about your parents' or grand
parents' generations and their lives during the Depression and World
War II; or if you can better understand the many changes that have
occurred during her lifetime and the effect they had on the lives of
her generation, you'll find this to be an entertaining bit of
reading.
She has created a beautiful legacy for her
children, grand children and future generations. We will be able to
share this experience with them through her talent for story
telling. Don't we all wish our grandparents had put their stories on
paper for us to enjoy today? -- Eldora Gentzler, Blair,
