Filters help you organize your mail. If you receive large
amounts of messages everyday, instead of crowding your inbox with all the
messages, you can have filters set so messages get distributed into different
folders.
Setting Filters (Message Rules)
-
Open Netscape Messenger. Open the "Edit" menu
and select "Message Filters". (Figure 1)
-
In the window "Message Filters", click
on the "New" button. (Figure 2)
-
In the "Filter Rules" window , enter the name
by which you wish to refer to this filter in the "Filter Name" field
." Next select "Match Any of The Following". (Figure
3)
-
Next, use the drop down menus to
to
select what you want the messages to be sorted by.
NOTE: By using the "more" button, you may specify
additional parameters for the filter, or expand the parameters so that several
subjects, senders, or words contained in the body of the message will cause a
message to be filtered from your email.
-
Using the drop down menu, select what you would
like to be done with the messages.
-
In the "description" field, you may place a
brief description of the filter you've just configured, such as "move
filtered messages to trash".
-
Press OK to close the "Filter Rules" window.
Press "OK" to close the " Message Filters" window.
