Beer Bread

1 cup beer
1 package dry yeast
3 tablespoons melted soy margarine
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon salt

Heat beer to lukewarm in a 1 quart pan. Remove from heat and sprinkle on yeast. Add a pinch of salt and let sit for 5 minutes.

Place the margarine, the sugar, the salt and the flours in a 5 quart bowl. Mix well. Add the yeast and blend well.

Turn out onto a floured area and knead for a minute or two. Grease a large bowl with the remainder of the margarine and return the dough to the bowl, turning to coat it with margarine. Let rise until double, about 1 hour.

Turn dough out onto a floured area and knead another moment or two. Shape a loaf and place in a greased 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. Brush the top with melted margarine and let it rise until dough reaches the rim of the pan.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake bread for one hour.
