Class directory

The professor will use professional judgment in determining grades. Judgments will be made to assure fairness for each individual student and fairness for the entire class. Students are encouraged to discuss the assignments with the instructor, as they are completing them, for feedback and additional recommendations that may impact the depth, breadth and quality of the assignments. If you have any questions or are not sure about a particular situation please discuss it with an instructor as soon as possible. A stich in time saves nine.

  Each student, working with a partner(s) will evaluate a basal text and write a final report.

Mini Lessons (O-3, 4, & 5)

  Plan, teach, and evaluate reading lessons appropriate for diverse students; include self and peer evaluations/reflections for the professor.

Literature Circles, Conversations (Giver), Poetry Book, and Child Activity (O-2, 3, 4, & 5)

Each student will be assigned to a literature circle team. Each team member will have a specific role within the team.
Students will work in teams creating poems and select ten or more and create a poetry book.
Half day literacy experience with elementary/middle school students.

  Each student will participate in a professional development experience such as an IRA meeting, reading in-service in a public school, volunteer experience at city library and write a reflective paper.

Phonics Packet & Activities (O-3 & 4)

Each student will use a phonics packet to include the 70 phonograms described in the Nebraska Reading Standards. Students will work in pairs to familiarize each other on how to instruct children to learn phonics.

Support Services

Wayne State College provides an array of services to assist students including the U.S.Conn Library and computer labs located in the Library, the Math/Science Building, Connell Hall, Brandenburg Education Building, and Gardner Hall.
